Town of Čelákovice

was built on the left bank of the river Elbe, not far from the capital Prague. The town consist of formerly individual municipalities Sedlčánky and Záluží as well as Císařská Kuchyně. The town now has population of 10,129 people.

FotogalerieCentral Elbe region with flood-plain forests, fertile land and number of water resources has been populated almost without break since early Stone Age. Long history of presence of humans along Elbe can be seen on number of historical artefacts in museums. The oldest written mention of Čelákovice dates back to the year 1290. At that time, there was a church and to the west of the church there used to be a wooden object on stone bedding, replaced at approximately 1300 A.D. by stone storied stronghold. This stronghold has changed its look thorough the ages. The last reconstruction helped the building look again as Gothic-Renaissance building. The stronghold, church and the mill from Middle Ages and the Deanery building from 1782 create historical centre of the town – one of the stops of the local nature trail and also destination of many tourist trips. Also mentioned must be the town hall in New Baroque style, built on the square in 1911. The already mentioned nature trail „Elbe – nature and man“ connects towns of Lysá n. Labem and Čelákovice and is 21 kilometres long. It has been designed so that it covers majority of important places and historical sights of this area located along the river Elbe.

Čelákovice is also a great destination for bike trips. It is located at the cyclo-track called Pojizeří. It also crosses busy railway connecting Prague – Lysá n. Labem – Kolín, where tourists can take advantage of railway services prepared for transport of bikes.

Great location and beautiful nature make Čelákovice a perfect place to live.
